You may have seen the email sent by Sam a few weeks ago telling you that the Callaway Fitting centre has re-opened at their headquarters in Chessington. Bill Milford, Club Champion from 2014 instantly booked a fitting and this is what he had to say about the experience.
"AWESOME - I cannot understand why anyone would buy a set of clubs off the peg when you have this facility available. We found 15 yards extra with a Callaway 7 iron over my current club and 20 yards extra with a new driver!!!!!!If you're looking to improve it's a must visit. I ordered straight away and cannot wait to receive my new clubs."
If anyone would like to book a FREE fitting at Callaway then please let us know, fittings get booked up quickly so don't delay.
We have our first Mail on Sunday match this weekend, at Home to Local Rivals Lamberhurst. Good luck to all involved, we don't have a great record in this competition so let's hope this year is our year.
Congratulations go to Kevin Stocker and Billy Houston winning the Betterball on Saturday with a score of 48 points!!!!! There are still spaces if you wish to play in the next Betterball competition on the 14th February.
Did anyone see 24 hours in A&E recently, the one featuring the retired fireman hit in the face by a golf club?
For anyone without golf insurance, take note. The programme told the story of retired firefighter John Willoughby who was accidentally struck in the face by a golf club at Deangate Ridge golf course in Kent. John, 53, was hit so hard that the club snapped and he had to be given emergency treatment at the scene by Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance's doctor and paramedic. The golfer was put in an induced coma to prevent his brain from further injury before being flown by the charity helicopter to St George's Hospital in London following the incident in June. The programme shows the father-of-two arriving at the specialist neurological unit where he was sent straight for a CT scan with a suspected critical head injury.
John's wife, Allison, is filmed by his side throughout the ordeal. She said:
"John was in the fire brigade for 32 years. He loved the adrenaline, the excitement of what was going to happen next. So much has happened to him, he went to the bombings in London, and he saw such horrific things. To him it's part of his job. He would put his life on the line to save someone. And then he goes off to play golf and this happens."
Many golfers assume an accident like that won't happen to them, but all golfers, regardless of ability, run the risk of injuring another person or themselves whilst out playing golf.
