How else to start this newsletter, other than using the words wet, wet, wet and wet. That is what I am sure lots of you are tired of at the moment, however, there is lots to look forward to. Summer is only 124 days away; The Masters is will soon be on your TV screen’s and more importantly, you will be out on the golf courses in shorts. In the meantime, to keep you in the loop as to what’s happening at the golf club, the 2020 Club Knockout draws are on the main members' noticeboard, please make sure you enter before the closing date on Monday, 15 March. These must be paid at the time of entering.
In other news, Sam from the Pro Shop as always will be adding some new clubs to his bag, it would not be a New Year without something being changed. Stay on the lookout over the coming weeks to find out what is in the bag for both John and Sam.
If you are out and about on the courses, make life easier for yourselves and play preferred lies across the whole course, we have enforced this in competitions, and I am sure you will agree that this has made life much easier.
Enjoy this week's read. |

The future is bright
A quiet week in terms of rounds played, however, matches in the Winter Knockout and Round Robin have been taking place. Wins for Jake Callow over Ella Keary in the Winter Knockout means he will now play sibling Roman Keary in the semi-final. Charlie Saunders had a win over Jack Kirkland and will await the winner of Paddy White and Louis Lewis. The Junior section is growing at a really steady pace and it is great to see the Junior golfers filtering into the Men’s Section, Toby Hankins-Smith, Paddy White, Louis Lewis and Jake Callow all took part in the Texas Scramble. A first no doubt to have four Juniors taking part in a weekend competition and long may it continue.

Junior of the Week
Charlotte Tracey claimed this week’s Junior of the Week, for her fantastic performance in Junior Coaching which took place on Saturday, 25 January. In a lesson based around generating more clubhead speed and how to hit the ball further, Charlotte who is eight years old and Daughter of long-term member Scott Tracey, proceeded to carry her driver nearly to the 100-yard marker. This was around a 30-yard gain in the lesson. Well Done Charlotte.

Anything that makes golf that little bit easier is a good thing in our eyes and if improving your iron play is up there on your to-do list then you’re in luck, as we have a treat we want to share with you. |
TaylorMade's brand new SIM Max and SIM Max OS irons are certainly worth trying out this year as they offer us all we need to make a big difference to our game. Taking the best game improvement technology from the M5 and M6 - such as the Speedbridge. - the two SIM models also feature a new ECHO Dampening System so the clubs sound similar to a forged iron on impact with a thinner face for more accuracy on mis-hits. If you are looking for more consistency and control in 2020 come and give these fantastic irons a try at your local pro shop.
