It's competition time!
With the weather being poor, we have decided to try and raise everyone’s spirits and give you something to look forward to. For March only, we want to run a Prize Draw for every member, with the winner claiming the whole pot of entries. The details will be as followed:
- £5 per entry (you can enter as many times as you like; for example, if you enter 4 times, your name goes in the hat on four separate tickets (four chances to win)
- The draw will run from Sunday, 1 March until Sunday, 22 March for entries (winner will be drawn on Monday, 23 March)
- Our target is £500
|
All money entered will go straight back to the winner whatever the figure, you could kick start your year with a massive shop spending spree all for the measly cost of £5. This will be a perfect way to kickstart someone’s year, this could go towards a new trolley, a new set of clubs or anything we offer in the Pro Shop. To enter, come into the Pro Shop or call on 01580201090 and pay over the phone. We will keep a running total for everyone to track the end winning figure. Good luck! |

Tip from the Pro's
What to look for when buying a driver? Most brands will offer different head types and lofts for different purposes, they will also offer a big range of shafts to choose from. So, which one is for you?
The answer is we don’t really know, without testing them that is the honest answer. Common things we here that make no sense:
‘I always have stiff shafts’ - ‘I always have 9-degree heads’ – ‘I hit my driver to high’ – ‘I need a low spin model’
These could be statements based upon previous fittings, your own judgement or comments from playing partners. I think our big message is whether you feel your current driver is not doing what you want, you are looking to purchase a new driver or you are just totally unsure.
Let a professional measure what you currently use and then go from there, driver heads nowadays vary so much depending on the golfer using them that there is no set rule. You find even Tour Pro’s will play what is commonly known as game ‘improvement clubs’ not because they need the help, but purely down to how it performs. Like in the image below, fitters of golf clubs will have lots of options and it is their job to understand what you require and what will work best for you.
|
If you are unsure at to whether your driver is setup right for you or even is the correct model, get it tested for free with the Pro Shop, we can guarantee you will learn something from the experience.
Example questions to ask yourself and a club-fitter should ask you - What do I want a driver to help me with or improve on? - Is my current driver over 7 years old? - What do I/you like the look of? - What’s my budget? - Why am I looking a testing a driver?
Call us on 01580 201090 or click here to book a fitting. |
Last week we revealed a remarkable statistic regarding the number of golfers playing grips that are over a year old, but what impact does that actually have on your game? Well, we decided to do some digging... |
| Tension whilst gripping | Grips are made from rubber and are prone to wear and tear, just like the tyres on your car. When they become worn, your grips will lose tackiness and your hands will start to slip during the swing, resulting in poorer shots.
The thing is, you’ll likely overcompensate by holding on to your clubs too tight, creating more tension and stiffness during the swing.
|
| Limited time offer in-store now | We know it sounds all doom and gloom, but it does make a huge difference to your game. That's why we're running this promotion at Dale Hill Hotel & Golf Ltd, so you can experience the benefits of a new grip first hand.
There’s no catch, just pop by the shop before your next round to take advantage. |
