The season is here, the first medal that qualifies for the TOP DOG trophy was won by Kelly Jones last weekend and the courses are starting to look in good shape.
With this people are starting to think about changing there clubs. It’s obvious to all that our range due to its length is not ideal for fitting; however we are looking at the possibility of investing in some form of FlightScope technology to give us the opportunity to fit people better. There is no substitute for data when fitting and that is why we encourage all our customers to get fitted at the manufacturers fitting centre. The amount of clubs on offer, the expert advice and the data recorded can sometimes give some outstanding performances.
It the past few weeks this is a couple of examples of the feedback given from Callaway on our members that have been fitted at their fitting centre in Chessington.
“Customer tried the new Callaway XR iron which gave us better ball speed, average increase in 15 yards in 6 iron to his current model”
“Customer tried the Big Bertha Alpha 815 driver, the strike improved and spin levels reduced by 1000rpms, resulting in a distance increase of between 15-20 yards per drive.”
“Customer currently had a high launch driver which does not work for his swing, his back spin was over 5000rpms, the Big Bertha Alpha 815 driver reduced the spin under 3000rpms straight away. Lower loft saw lower launch, the two combining in close to 30 yards increase in carry”
If you are thinking about changing any of your products, please talk to us or click here and we can set up a fitting for you, it does not matter at what ability you are, a correct fitting is vital for the correct clubs.
Golf Ball Fitting
Talking of spin – we tested out some golf balls this week on Mark Woods Flight scope, and it made some very interesting reading.
Ball A
Wedge – 131 yards (carry) 7921rpms
7 iron - 162 yards (carry) 5700rpms
Driver – 282 yards (total) 2400rpms
Ball B
Wedge – 126 yards (carry) 7300rpms
7 iron - 157 yards (carry) 5400rpms
Driver – 263 yards (total) 2850rpms
High spin with wedges is good as it helps the ball stop on the greens, however overall distance is important. Ball A out performed Ball B in all areas.
Ball A was the New Callaway Chrome Soft ball retailing at £30.00 per dozen. Ball B was the premium ball from the number 1 ball in golf, retailing at £40.00 per dozen.
Talk to a member of the proshop team for us to advise you on the correct ball for you, it can make a big difference in both yardages and in your pocket too.
