I think we can all agree that the amount of rain we have had this week is unbelievable, in saying that the courses have stood up well, the green staff are working hard to get bunkers back in play for the weekend, which is going to be busy with Presidents day on Sunday and the Alan Gibson Trophy on Monday.
Love proved that you are never too old to win, which should provide inspiration for all of us - especially the over 50s! Who's to say that he won't make the USA team if he carries on this form over the next 12 months?
Meanwhile, Woods put in an admirable effort to qualify for the Playoffs only to undo all his hard work on the par-4 11th where he racked up a treble bogey, which included a dreaded shank. It was a credit to him that he rebounded with four birdies in the last six holes to remind everyone that he might not quite be a spent force just yet.
The meltdown on 11 is something I'm sure we can all relate to. It can be so easy to let something like this affect your mind-set for the rest of the round, but this is where the best in the world show such strong character. Next time you blob a hole or run up a high number, don't let it ruin the rest of your round. Treat the hole as a piece of paper: screw it up, throw it in the bin and move on to the next hole.
If your mental game is letting you down, come and speak to us in store or get in touch here.
Thank you to all that supported the cross-country event on Thursday evening, We always try and make the course interesting and fun with a mixture of challenging holes and easy holes. It is a fun event, however the competition was won by Aimee Howell, Peter Kingshot, Craig Howell and Darren Sands.
From a shop point of view, we are now receiving our Autumn/winter lines, (waterproofs this week have already started selling - which was hardly surprising with the weather) we have spring/summer lines reduced in store.
Finally we have a Yonex demo day booked in for 10th September. Fittings will take place between 2 and 5p, if you wish to book a fitting please contact the shop. Have a great bank holiday weekend. We can all learn a thing or two from the weekend's action in America. For those of you who missed it, US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III claimed PGA Tour title number 21 at the age of 51, and Tiger Woods' season ended prematurely with his biggest 'missed cut' of the season: no place in the top 125 or the FedExCup Playoffs.
